How to report your child absent
If your child is ill, please notify the school office on the first day of illness before lessons begin, and no later than 7:45 a.m. This lets us make sure nothing has happened to your child on the way to school.
You can contact us:

- by telephone on 0511 168 42 024. Outside office hours, you may leave a message on the answering machine.
A written absence note is included at the back of the school planner. Please give it to the class teacher when your child returns to school.
Under the school’s rules, a medical certificate is required if the illness occurs immediately before or after the school holidays.
Notification duties under the Infection Protection Act
Under Section 34 of the German Infection Protection Act, parents and guardians must notify the school immediately if their child has, is suspected of having, or has head lice in connection with one of the listed conditions. These include in particular:
- cholera, diphtheria and EHEC enteritis;
- viral haemorrhagic fever, Haemophilus influenzae type b meningitis and meningococcal infections;
- infectious impetigo, whooping cough, infectious pulmonary tuberculosis, scarlet fever and other Streptococcus pyogenes infections;
- measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox;
- paratyphoid fever, typhoid fever, plague, poliomyelitis and shigellosis;
- scabies, head lice and viral hepatitis A or E;
- diseases caused by orthopoxviruses.
Certain illnesses or suspected cases in the same household may also trigger a duty to notify. If in doubt, please contact the school promptly so that the necessary steps can be agreed with the public health authority.
